Your data
Where your data lives, and how you get it back
Before you put a whole final account into a new system, you want four things answered without digging through a policy: where the data sits, who can see it, how you get it out, and what happens when a trial ends. Here they are.

Where it lives
On servers in the UK or the EEA
Your account records and project data are held on servers in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. Traffic is encrypted in transit over HTTPS, and each practice’s files sit in a separate area keyed to the account, not pooled together.
Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. We cannot read your password, and neither can anyone who reached the database.
One exception, said plainly: the nightly backup now goes to Backblaze, in the European Economic Area (Amsterdam).
Who can see it
Your practice, and whoever you invite
Project data is yours. For it, you are the controller and QScope is your processor: we handle it on your instructions, nothing more. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train machine-learning models.
Guests (clients and subcontractors) see only the single project you share, at the permission level you set, and you can revoke a link at any time.
Getting it out
A full copy of your account, any time
Your figures are never locked in. Download a full copy of your account at any time as one file. Registers such as the audit trail and the risk register also export to CSV. You do it on any plan, without asking us and without a notice period.
There is no export fee and no “contact sales to leave” step. The door out is as open as the door in.
After your trial
Read-only, and nothing is deleted
When a trial ends and you don’t subscribe, your account switches to read-only. You can still sign in, look at everything and export it. Nothing is deleted the moment the trial stops.
Project data stays available to export for at least 60 days, unless you delete the account yourself. If you come back and subscribe, you pick up exactly where you left off.
Signing in
Two-step sign-in
Turn on two-step sign-in and every sign-in also asks for a six-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password. It is optional and set per person. You get ten recovery codes, and turning it off needs both your password and a code.
Going back
Restore an earlier version
QScope keeps earlier copies of every project. A copy is taken before every save and ten are kept: the three newest, one from each of the last three hours and one from each of the last four days, alongside nightly copies. Restore an earlier version lists each copy with the number of rows in it, so you can see what you are going back to before you go.
What the copy holds
Every project, on a read-only account too
Download a copy of everything works on a read-only account as well as a paying one. The file holds every project; drawings, photographs and other uploaded files are not in it and stay in each project’s Files.
Your account
Closing the account, and what goes with it
The account owner can close the account, and that deletes every project, every file and every login in the practice. You confirm with your password and by typing the company name. Every project, file and login is deleted, and any subscription is cancelled. QScope keeps no copy, so download everything first.
Also on your account
Everything else on your account
- Download backup in each project's settings saves that one project as a JSON file.
- Restore from file replaces everything in the project with the file you choose, after you confirm, and tells you what it loaded.
- If going back would change documents already issued, QScope offers to restore the cost plan only.
- When a save is refused, the bar that says so carries Restore an earlier version and Reload the project.
- A welcome email confirms the trial is ready.
- At sign-in you type the six-digit code from the app, or a recovery code if you have lost your phone.
- Signing in with a recovery code, and every wrong code, is written to the change log.
- You change your password under Security, with the current one and the new one twice.
- A member of the team can remove their own access, and the projects stay with the practice.
- Account shows how many surveyor seats are used, and going over the limit switches nothing off.
- A team member with a view only role can read the projects but cannot change them.
What we don’t do with it
No sellingWe never sell personal or project data to anyone, for any purpose. No ad targetingYour account and project data are never used to target advertising. No model trainingYour project data is not used to train machine-learning models.Card details are handled entirely by Stripe on its own pages, and QScope never sees or stores a card number. The full detail on lawful basis, sub-processors and retention is in the privacy policy.
Try it on a real job, not a demo
Thirty days is a full valuation cycle, so you can run QScope on live figures and still walk away with every one of them.
