QScope

Dashboard

The commercial position, without opening a spreadsheet

Four figures answer almost every question a client asks on the phone. QScope keeps them current as you value, across every live job.

  • Deadlines across every live project, overdue shown separately
  • Retention release dates flagged before they pass
  • Unread activity counted per project, so team changes are visible

The project list leads with deadlines rather than project names, so the job in trouble finds you.

Every project, sorted by what is on fire

One job you can hold in your head.

Nine jobs across three surveyors is where a notice goes missing, and it is never the project you were thinking about that morning. The project list leads with deadlines rather than project names, so the job in trouble finds you.

Four figures, then everything else

Contract sum, certified to date, retention held, due this period.

  • Contract value now, against the original sum, so changes are visible
  • Certified to date with the percentage of the works complete
  • Retention held, with what it is made of and when it releases

Project team

Sober enough to turn round to a client

A dashboard covered in coloured tiles looks impressive in a demonstration and unprofessional when the client is sitting next to you.

  • Figures set in tabular numerals so columns line up
  • Negative amounts in brackets, the accounting convention
  • Documents print on your letterhead, never branded QScope

QScope uses colour only where it carries meaning, and every document it prints is black and white so it survives being photocopied into a bundle.

Client Valuations

Every figure traces back to a certificate

The four figures on the dashboard are not typed in.

  • Certified to date is the sum of every certificate issued
  • Due this period is the net of the certificate you are about to send
  • Retention held is deducted in the certificate, not added on top
Client Valuations
Interim certificate PC-04
This period, exc VAT£24,180.00
Less retention at 5%(£1,209.00)
Previously certified£70,084.00
Due this certificate, exc VAT£14,031.00

Open the valuation behind the dashboard and the same net figure is there, line by line, with retention already deducted.

Payment

The deadline under the figures is a legal one

The deadline shown beneath the four figures is the one that costs money if it passes.

  • Payment notice, pay-less and final date counted from the due date
  • Weekends and England and Wales bank holidays excluded on UK forms, calendar days on FIDIC
  • The closest deadline shown on the dashboard, overdue shown separately

Last date for a pay-less notice24 Aug 2026

QScope counts the payment notice deadline, the pay-less deadline and the final date for payment from the due date, and puts the closest one on the dashboard.

Who it is for

One record, four reports that must agree

You are applying

You report cost against money secured

You report cost against the sum you have actually secured, and the difference between the two is the conversation with your own board.

Applying for payment
the same measurement

You are certifying

You report on figures you certified

You report to the client on a job you certify, and the report has to reconcile with the certificates you signed.

Certifying payment

You are doing both

Your record is the only report there is

You are the report: what you have applied for, what has been certified and what is still to fund, pulled from your own record.

Doing both yourself

You are reporting

You turn the record into a drawdown

You turn the project record into a drawdown recommendation, and the figures have to reconcile before the lender releases a pound.

Recommending a drawdown

The client, the architect and the tenderer are not on this list. They are the people you let in on a link: they see the one document you sent them, answer it, and that answer is written into the record. No account, no licence, no charge, on every plan.

FAQs

The questions this page raises most often, answered without a sales pitch at the end.

Each plan covers a number of jobs running at the same time, set high enough that most businesses never reach it, and archiving a finished job frees the space again. A bigger job never costs more.

Yes. It recalculates as you value, so the figure you quote on the phone is the figure in the certificate you are about to issue.

Yes. The project list carries the payment deadline panel, retention release alerts and unread activity counts across the whole portfolio.

The difference between what you have certified to the client and what you have certified down to subcontractors, so you can see whether the job is funding itself. It only appears on projects that have subcontractors.
