Collaboration
Clients want to know where they stand. What they must not see is your cost report, your risk register and what you are holding from subcontractors.

QScope charges for the people who sign in and nothing else. Invite as many clients, subcontractors, architects and site managers as the job needs.
Software that charges per user teaches you to keep people out of it.
So the client emails for an update, you export, redact, format and attach, every month, on every job. QScope charges for the people who sign in and nothing else. Invite as many clients, subcontractors, architects and site managers as the job needs.
Practice
A shared practice password makes every entry in the audit trail say the same thing, which is the same as recording nothing at all.
Invite each surveyor by email. They set their own password on a one-time link that expires after 72 hours, and from then on the record shows who actually prepared each certificate.
Project record
Access is not only about what a guest can see.
Give a guest comment access and they can add photographs and files where you allow it, each upload recorded against them in the audit trail.
Client Valuations
A client guest should see their own position: the certificate, the amount due and the dates.
The valuation a client opens shows the net due and the statutory dates, with the cost report and the subcontractor valuations hidden by default.
Dashboard
A guest link does not dump a spreadsheet on the client.
The four figures, the certificate and the dates are there. The cash position, the risk register and the subcontractor side are not.
Who it is for
You are applying
The record defends your own figuresYou keep the record that defends your own applications: who changed which figure, and the documents behind every line.
Applying for paymentYou are certifying
The trail holds when yours are challengedYou certify on the strength of the record, and when a figure is challenged the audit trail is what stands between you and an argument.
Certifying paymentYou are doing both
The file protects the one who kept itYou keep the paperwork yourself, and the file that assembles as you go is the one that protects you when memories differ.
Doing both yourselfYou are reporting
The record is all the site you seeYou rely on the record more than anyone: bonds in force, access controlled, every figure traceable, because you were never on site.
Recommending a drawdownThe client, the architect and the tenderer are not on this list. They are the people you let in on a link: they see the one document you sent them, answer it, and that answer is written into the record. No account, no licence, no charge, on every plan.
The questions this page raises most often, answered without a sales pitch at the end.
No. Clients, subcontractors and anyone else on the project are guests. They open a link, see what you allowed, and never count towards your plan. This is deliberate: software that charges per user teaches people to keep the client out of it.
No. The whole subcontractor side, the cost report and the risk register are hidden from client guest links. What you hold from a subcontractor is your commercial position, not theirs.
Revoke the link. Access stops immediately and the revocation is recorded in the audit trail, so you can show when it happened.
QScope detects it and warns the second person rather than letting one silently overwrite the other. Losing an afternoon of valuation because a colleague had the job open is not an acceptable failure mode.
From the blog
Three pieces from the same corner of a contract as this page, answered at length and without a sales pitch at the end.
An advance payment bond is a guarantee that if you take the money and fail, the client gets it back from a bank or surety instead of chasing you. What it costs, how it reduces as the advance is recovered, and the wording that quietly makes it dangerous.
Read nowInstead of the client holding 5% of every payment for two years, a surety guarantees the same protection and you keep the cash. When the swap genuinely pays, what the premium and the counter-indemnity really cost, and the client objections worth taking seriously.
Read nowTitle to site materials passes to the employer once their value is certified and paid. But a contractor can pass only the title it holds, and a supplier's retention of title clause can defeat the employer even after payment.
